Astrobee D Forward Fly-away Lug
Photographic details of the Astrobee D forward "fly-away
"launch lug are depicted here. The stainless steel band is bent around
the payload tube, and is secured in place by an index pin on one of the
lug have which seats in a matching index hole on the payload tube to prevent
rotation of the lug bans. Detailed dimensions of forward lug are provided
in the Aerotech Astrobee D rocket kit.

Figure 1 (top): Inside view of fly-away forward launch lug band. Note 5 screws
on each side of band that secure each half of split lug to the lug band.
Note slots in the band that provide better spring action.

Figure 2 (bottom): Outside view of fly-away forward launch lug band. The split halves
of the launch lug can be seen with the screw threads, nuts and washers that
mount them.

= 2.975 in; Band thickness = 0.022 in.; slot widdtht = 0.34 in.; Slot length
= 1.975 in. )
