PART 12: LAUNCHING THE ASTROBEE D ON
RELOADABLE "H" MOTORS
This completed rocket project can be flown on reloable 29mm
H class motors using the Aerotech 29/180 and 29/240 motor casings. This
rocket project along with H motors can be used to obtain Tripoli
Rocketry Level-1 Certification, with a very nice looking rocket that
is very stable and aerodynamically clean. A 29mm motor hardware set consisting
of 2 casings and one set of forward and aft closures can be purchased for
$61.35 from Magnum. The 29/180 motor casing with a set of closures is $48.90
and the 29/240 motor casing with a set of closures is is $49.75 from Magnum.
The motor reload kits from the chart below are priced as follows from Magnum.
(1) H-128 and H238 are $9.25
(2) H97 and H180 are $13.95
(3) H220 is $17.50
The price of the H reloads is about $10.00 to $18.00 flight. Total cost
for this project including the certification flight with an H motor will
be a ,inimum of $125.00 TO $150.00. Price of this project with the 6 ft
cross parachute will be $175.00 to $225.00. Project with the $280.00 Emmanual
Avionics accelerometer board will cost between $450.00 and $500.00. Finishing
supplies haven't been factored into the cost as different materials will
be used and the cost will vary accordingly. Actual total cost will depend
on how much money you spend on paint, primer, epoxy, finishing supplies,
and raw materials to fabricate the parachute.
