Mike Dorffler Photo Collection: Nike-Hercules
Mike has this to say about the photos:
"Wayne Kellner (designer of Estes Mars Lander kit) shot them [The Nike Hurc photos] on my Yashica, on my film, on a Saturday at the Penrose Apple Day celebration in October of 1970. I climbed up on the Nike(after getting permission) and held the yardstick. These show most of the rivets, bolts, and panels the entire length of the beast. There isn't the contrast I would like because they were taken on an overcast fall afternoon. But the details are there and they stand out very nicely. I scanned these at 300dpi from 8 X 10's so you can keep banging on the magnifying glass icon on your favorite graphics program and they don't fall apart until you get to the photo grain of the picture. You want rivets? You got 'em."
