Feb 29, 2000:
Since I wrote this, a couple of things have hapened.
One, I'm now pushing 48, and still flying rockets. I must admit that my duties as President and Prefect of Tripoli Mo-Kan keep me from flying as much as I would like. :-(
I was recently appointed to the Tripoli Technical Advisory Panel (TAP). I'm afraid that's going to cut into my building and flying time too, but I'm going to be helping my fellow rocketeers achieve their own Level-3 certifications, so it will be worth it.
Who is Jim Ball:
I created this web page to entertain and educate those who stop in for a visit. Whether they came deliberately looking for rocketry related web sites, or just stumbled in--I hope each visitor leaves with a little more than they came with. :-)
FLY HIGH, FLY SAFE
Jim Ball
Briefly- I am a 47 yr old BAR living in Southeast Kansas. That's born-again rocketeer: It's not a religious reference, but means someone who discovered rocketry as a youth, left the hobby for a number of years, and re-discovered it as an adult. I flew my first
Estes rocket in 1964 (or '65, can't remember..) and flew them until
graduating High School in 1970.
My interest in rockets rekindled when I stumbled upon a copy
of HPR magazine in June, 1994. That's a 24 year gap!
Since then, I have joined Tripoli Rocketry Association (Member #4859) and certified to Level-1 in 1996. I certified Level 2 in 1997.
I certified to Level-3 August 7, 1999 at LDRS 18, Argonia, Kansas! For more information about the three levels of high power rocketry certification, check out the Tripoli home page at Tripoli Rocketry Association.
I am the President and Prefect of Teeniemünde, Tripoli Mo-Kan (#101)
